This model is fresh off the workbench and it's based around a futuristic Gerry Anderson series from the early 1980's called 'Terrahawks'. In the show they had a variety of spacecraft, but being a keen boat builder I decided to come up with a design that would keep within the Terrahawks look. The model started off as a basic vac-formed speed boat. I cut away the driver figure and cockpit, scribed panel lines all over, I then added some letro-set tape and built the mast and exhaust. The model was sprayed silver from a rattle can, masked, and then sprayed orange. A battle Zero was made from a clear EMA dome with bits from my kit box, and the air intake is a wheel from a plastic kit tank. The model was washed in oils first and then wiped clean. The light panel changes were done with an airbrush, while the numbers and small detailed shapes were applied using a simple template. Finally, the model was sealed and then scuffed down with some ultra-fine sanding sponges. T he model will be a fully working radio control model which I've named 'The Battle Boat' |
