Named in memory of Admiral Maxwell Forrest, the UES Forrest was built with one purpose in mind: to give the fledgling alliance of planets (that would later become the United Federation of Planets) an edge in the Earth/Romulan war. Manned by a crew of 20 to 30, these ships served as "run and gun" frontline ships and proved quite successful. I've always been fascinated with the idea of the Earth/Romulan war and have begun fleshing out ships that might would have served in it. This is the most unusual one of the bunch so far. My idea was 'what if a Defiant (from DS9) type ship was needed during the war?'. Small, mean and agile was my approach. The model is made from wood and various wooden shapes purchased from the hobby store. I embellished the top of the warp nacelles with plastic banding material found in the trash at work. I also used pieces of zip ties for experimental phaser rails/strips. A toothpaste cap serves as the rear thruster. No impulse engine on this rocket. The greebling was done with crackerbox cardboard. Acrylic brushed on paint finished the project. |
