This is my 1/350th Polar Lights refit Enterprise. The box says over 200 pieces and they are not kidding. This is probably the most time consuming model I have ever put together. I loved the NX-01 Enterprise so much that I knew I had to get this one. It took me almost six months from start to finish. There was a slight gap problem where the top of the star drive section glued onto the rest of the engineering decks I'm not quite sure what happened because it fit just fine in pre-fab. But it is not that bad and I can live with it. I started off painting with a base coat of Krylon for plastic semi-gloss white. It worked beautifully giving it just a little sheen when the light hits it directly. Other than that it was a pretty straight forward build right out of the box. I did leave off the aztecing pattern as I did with the NX Enterprise. That is just too complicated and too time consuming for me. But I really like the way it turned out. I used duck egg blue just like the instructions say to use and I think it turned out ok. I did have to do some mixing to get the right shades but I just used a mixture of it with light blue to give a more blueish tint. I used clear blue for the Deflector and the inside of the warp nacelles and I think they turned out perfect, some dark and medium grays here and there and then a mixture of gold and aluminum for the bridge. All in all probably one of the best models I have ever built. |
