I bought both "1/24 SPACE LEGION Special Forces `Walkyries'" from a lot sale online from a hobby shop in the United States. Fit, quality, and casting are quite good, consisting of head, arms, torso, and hand holding a gun, all attached to pour blocks which I sawed off with a razor saw. I built both figures out-of-the-box since being 1/24th scale, I couldn't find other resin limbs or gear to kitbash with. I added some of the generous number of cylindrical frag and smoke grenades and ammo pouches to the web belt and kept with the intended construction design on the box photo, meaning I didn't add any pouches to the chest or back even though a figure modeler could. Since I wanted this to be a fast and easy build, I avoided using my airbrush or any fancy camouflage scheme. Therefore after construction, I primed with Mr. Surfacer Fine Primer and then sprayed the color with Tamiya NATO Green. Highlights and washes were handbrushed with Vallejo green and black acrylic paint. The base is Kotobukiya's black plastic square brought a while ago from StarshipModeler's shop. I made the groundwork using putty, sprinkled on green static grass, and superglued on leafy paper plants spray-painted with Testor's Medium Green. The little foliage shrubs came from Woodland Scenics. I really enjoyed building these Sci-fi figures as I had fun deciding what grenades and pouches to add to each one. Construction was simple and straightforward. I find the 1/24th scale appropriate in size (not too small, not too large), and the figures' poses quite eye-catching. The design and technology look advanced enough to represent any futuristic trooper on a scouting mission. |
