This is my scratchbuild of the U.S.S. Daedalus, I have been wanting to build this model for quite some time. I decided to create a model of the Daedalus under construction in drydock. This is what I have completed so far. After about a year and a half of figuring out how it was all going to come together, I went down to my local hobby shop and bought about $120 worth of Plastruct Structural Shapes and then with some hot glue and cardboard I began to piece together the primary hull, deck by deck, creating hallways and individual rooms, the "neck" portion, followed by the pylons and warp nacelles. Every piece has been created with structure in mind. There is still quite a way to go before completion, however I think it is coming along quite nicely. Obviously if I were to use sheet styrene instead of cardboard, the effect would have been nicer, however a married man can not justify spending $300 on a model unless a really big diamond ring has been presented first.... |
