USS Sanderson

By Michael Sanderson

This is a scratchbuilt model of a ship i named after myself. U.S.S. SANDERSON. I now live in Sydney Australia and have had to leave all my Star Trek collectibles in storage back in Canada. Going through withdrawls, I felt compelled to take on a modeleing project.

As with some of my other projects, I made this model from odds and ends and pieces of stuff from around the house. The saucer is made from a broken wall clock and two acrylic plates. The engineering hull is made from a sports water bottle. The nacelles are scratch built from cardboard tubes. The bussard collectors (round red things) are roll-on balls from anti-perspirant bottles. The rest was achieved with sheet styrene.

The scale is designed to make it appear as a smaller ship. It might have a crew of 50 or so as indicated by the size of the windows and 4 lifeboats.
