Star Wars Lambda Class Shuttle

By Jonathon Adams

Here is my MPC Star Wars Lambda Class Shuttle kit. To start off with, I purchased this kit on-line and I believe it is one of the 1983ish issues (very old box and instructions) but was very pleased with the quality of the parts. After getting 50% of the way into it, I noticed my central portion of the model was warped. I was able to attach the wings and cockpit, but large gaps appeared everywhere. After three rounds of putty/sanding/repainting I ended up with some very nice areas and some just plain ugly areas and decided I was going to run with it.

The painting was plain white rattle-can and this is my first attempt at real weathering. I used initially a charcoal/water/soap wash over every portion of the shuttle (sometimes 2 or 3 times till it looked dirty enough) and finally some streaks and rust runs were added using various shades of eye-shadow (my wife's). All-in-all, I'm very pleased with the results (ugly portions and all).
