USS Enterprise- C

By Brian Leadingham

This is the USS Enterprise 1701-C model from AMT and is only my third attempt at model buildinging. This ship appeared in “Yesterday’s Enterprise” from Star Trek The Next Generation. I took some liberties with the design in terms of color choices. I decided that some colors looked better to my eye if they were of a darker shade.

I used both Testors and Model Master paints. The blues are Model Master paints that I found in a local hobby shop. The bottles are bigger than Testors and I like to look of the finish from this brand.

The one thing I do not like is the stands that come with these models. The are flimsy and often do not support the weight well. That is why I have painted this one black with no detail, in hopes I can one day learn to build a better stand.

Aside from the main grey coat, all paint is hand painted. Masking on this model was very easy and worth it in the end.

There were also some details in the original design I decided not to include (i.e. the striping on the nacelles, etc.). Additionally, I made some personal choices where detail colors were concerned. As I went with an overall darker color scheme, I felt some alterations needed to be made in order to make the overall look more cohesive.
