This is a concept for a faster than light speed, single seat, ground attack bomber, called the DS-1 Scorpion. Originally called the DS-1 Chin See Carp, it was renamed the Scorpion by the U.S. forces due to its arachnoid appearance. The Scorpion would play much the same role in the American Army of the future as the Apache helicopter of today. The Scorpion is powered by two ion pulse hyperdrive engines, giving it faster than light speed. It is armed with a laser cannon that can be used to destroy ground targets as well as enemy aerospace craft. It is also armed with a short range photo pulse cannon that is used exclusively for air to air and space combat against enemy craft. In its role as a ground attack bomber, it is armed with seven conventional nuclear gravity bombs ranged from 25 to 200 megatons. In addition it is armed with two 225kg napalm bombs. This version is painted in desert camo common to the Gobi desert campaign against the Chinese Liberal Economic Reform Front. (CLERF). One drawback of the Scorpion is its lack of rear or side facing deflector shields. Given its role as a ground attack bomber, its deflector shields are only forward facing. The model was built mostly from stuff I bought at the dollar store. (Hence the name, DS for dollar store, and Chin See Carp, an anagram of "Chinese crap".) The cockpit is a toy cell phone, and the fuselage, engines, and wings are a Nerf gun, that I took apart. The other parts are styrene sheet and bits from my parts box. The pilot is a 1960's vintage plastic astronaut. The inspiration for the paint scheme was desert camo colors I saw painted on vehicles used by the British in North Africa in WWII.
